@RobotKaraoke interesting. they might have tweaked the audio gain algorithms. while TC is not the same as SP, but Ashish's bass is quite loud and totally overwhelmed my P&S. at SP it was when the vocals kicked in that the flip really started to screw up. anyway, it works better than my new P&S but not as good as my old P&S.

@pfile Possibly, you notice I'm not recording rock shows with a lot of wailing guitar, it's mostly electronica. I guess TC is sorta funky and there are guitars, but it's not heavy on the rock guitar like Smashing Pumpkins. I dunno, maybe it's the model? I was incorrect, the model of Flip I have is the UltraHD. I didn't do anything at all to the mic on mine, either. The video just came out of the camera this way.

@RobotKaraoke strange... so i got a flip mino and tried to shoot smashing pumpkins at the fox last night. either there is something wrong with my camera, or SP is just way louder than TC, because the audio levels vary wildly with the vocals. it keeps attenuating the audio so it won't clip but as a result the audio level is all over the map. you didn't happen to tape over your mics a little bit, did you?
